The Wolfratshausen cinema has reopened in July. But how did the first few weeks go? Did visitors even come? In an interview with our newspaper, boss Cornelia John reports on the new beginning.

Wolfratshausen - After the Corona-related forced closure and a short summer break, the Wolfratshausen cinema has opened again for a few days. But do people even dare to go to the cinema? And how did the first performances go? Our trainee Franziska Konrad asked boss Cornelia John.

Ms. John, do people even dare to go to the cinema?

Yes, luckily (laughs). Shortly after our reopening, a married couple placed a huge order for all of our films. The two of them watched our entire program for a week.

How does it look at the moment? Are there any new films?

Now things are slowly starting again. But in the beginning it was much more difficult to create a program. First we showed classics like “Bohemian Rhapsody” or played relatively new films like “Crescendo” again. By the way, our first major event since Corona will take place on Sunday. I'm really looking forward to that.

What kind of event is this?

The brothers Julian and Thomas Wittmann drove to Las Vegas with the Zündapp. The adventure film “Ausgrissn! In the Lederhosn to Las Vegas ”. After the screening there will be a film talk with the two of them.

How did the first few days after the reopening go?

Motley mixed. On nice summer days it was less busy, but that's normal. Other performances were completely sold out with 27 people.

You actually have 91 and 84 seats in the two halls.

Correct. Because of the distance rules, we are not allowed to let in too many visitors. Every second row of seats remains empty. In addition, we have to leave two spaces free between the people on the left and right. Before each performance, my mother and I create a fixed seating plan. That is why we ask our guests to reserve tickets in advance.

Are all these regulations changing the atmosphere in the cinema?

I think so. When the cinema-goers watch a film and sit in the hall, they probably don't notice much of a difference at first. But when I look into a completely sold-out hall and the room is still half empty - that feels kind of weird.
