Anthony Fauci had a polyp removed from his vocal cords, an operation performed during the day. " He should be back online tomorrow and this weekend, and back at the NIH (National Institutes of Health) in person on Monday, " the spokesperson added. The 79-year-old immunologist, known for his rugged voice and New York accent, has become over the months a popular figure in the United States.
But his warnings of precipitous deconfinement since the spring have distanced him from President Donald Trump and his supporters, to the point that he has received security protection after threats. He has said several times that he hasn't taken a single day of rest since the pandemic began in January, and that he was in " chronic exhaustion ." But he continues his activities, shared between his institute, the White House and the interviews and panels in which he continues to participate every day.
After surgery on the vocal cords, on the other hand, it is generally recommended that you speak as little as possible for a few days in order to facilitate healing.
