The Russian Cosmos Space Foundation has announced an air leak on the International Space Station, the location and cause of which are not yet known.
Russia Today quoted a source in the corporation as saying, "The station crew will move to the Zvezda unit in the Russian sector in order to organize the process of controlling air pressure in the American sector," indicating that the transfer decision was taken in agreement with the American side, and during this period the pioneers will do their usual work and there is no Danger to their lives.
Another source described as being familiar with indicated that in order to search for the location and cause of the air leak, the American sector units in the International Space Station will be isolated from each other by closing the gates that connect to each other.
In turn, Russian astronaut Pavel Vinogradov announced in an interview with RIA Novosti that the crew of the International Space Station will shut down the station units, respectively, to search for the location of the air leak using special devices.
"This is a routine procedure," he said, isolating the units in order to determine in which of them the air leakage is similar to what we do in the dormitory when there is an air current we close the room doors to prevent it .. After identifying the unit, the station crew begins to search for the location and cause of this leakage using special ultrasound devices. When determining the location, take the necessary decision to solve the problem.
It should be noted that a similar leakage accident occurred in 2004 in the American sector of the station and after searching for its location it became clear that it was from a hole in a hose located in the Destiny unit.
