Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Abbas Araghchi confirmed today that the US attempt to re-impose sanctions on his country is "futile and futile."
Araghchi wrote in a tweet on Twitter: “America’s notification to the Security Council of the need to re-impose sanctions on Iran lacks any legal effect and is a futile and futile attempt,” noting that none of the remaining participants in the nuclear deal considered “this reporting effective.”
Araghchi added, "We are confident that the Security Council will not allow Washington to exploit Resolution 2231 to reach its declared goal, which is to undermine this resolution."
And Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif warned yesterday that the US attempt to re-impose sanctions on Iran will have serious consequences for international law and will only lead to the destruction of international mechanisms and undermining the credibility of the Security Council.
