Four suspects have been indicted and 65 kg of heroin seized as part of an investigation into drug trafficking in western France, the Rouen prosecutor's office announced on Friday (August 21) in a statement.

Three men, aged 20 to 40, were indicted by an examining magistrate and imprisoned while a woman in her twenties, also indicted, was released under judicial supervision.

Opened by the Rouen prosecutor's office " for several months ", the investigation was first focused " around two brothers " acting in Rouen, Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray (Seine-Maritime), Tours and Poitiers, according to the press release. The investigations were carried out by the research sections (SR) of the gendarmerie of Rouen, Orléans and Poitiers as well as by the regional intervention group (GIR) of Rouen with the assistance of the gendarmes of the C3N (Center for the fight against crime digital).

This unit of the gendarmerie specializing in cybercrime, which was leading " an international investigation into the dismantling of an encrypted telephone network used by European criminal groups ", made it possible to provide investigators with " evidence implicating one of the main protagonists of this traffic ”, according to the same source.

On the morning of August 17, a vast operation mobilizing 70 gendarmes led to the arrest of six people in Tours, Joué-les-Tours (Indre-et-Loire), Buzancais (Indre), Brionne (Eure) and Parcoul-Chenaud ( Dordogne).

During this operation, more than 65 kg of heroin were discovered concealed " in a cache fitted out in a vehicle parked in a car park in Poitiers ". In addition, the searches carried out led to the discovery and seizure of nearly 58,000 euros in cash, 8 vehicles and two scooters, 3 handguns with their ammunition, an artisanal press used to compact narcotics and several objects of luxury ”, according to the press release.
