The Bolivian Ministry of Justice has reported the former head of state Evo Morales for the relationship with a young person. The ex-president is said to have had a relationship with a 19-year-old when she was still a minor, the ministry announced on Thursday (local time).

He is accused of seducing minors and trafficking in human beings. According to media reports, the young woman confirmed the relationship with Morales. You met him at the age of 16. However, they only became lovers when she was of legal age.

The 60-year-old Morales is currently living in exile in Argentina after resigning under pressure from the military in November 2019. The opposition and international election observers accused the South American country's first indigenous head of state of fraud in the presidential election. An interim government is currently in charge in Bolivia.

The politician has so far rejected all allegations

Morales has already been charged with terrorism and terrorist financing. He rejected the allegations in early July and called the prosecution's actions "illegal and unconstitutional". "Further evidence of the de facto government's systematic persecution," he tweeted. "Soon democracy and the rule of law will return to Bolivia."

In an interview with SPIEGEL in November of last year, the politician spoke about possible electoral fraud and a possible return to his country - and made serious allegations against the coup plotters in Bolivia.

Morales first went into exile in Mexico at the end of 2019 and later settled in Argentina. From there, he can coordinate better with his supporters from the left-wing MAS movement before the new election, which was postponed to September due to the corona crisis.
