The plastic artist Rasha Shamma combines drawing and handwork in an image that identifies with nature in all its seasons and manifestations to make from her soul colors of life and creativity.

The artist Shamma entered the world of painting at a young age when she found herself in her father's studio, the plastic artist Rashid Shamma, who began encouraging her while she was still a young child, and at the age of 13 years, he was allowed to put her touches on some of his paintings, which increased her self-confidence and lit the first spark to continue on the path of art And access to its wide and rich world.

She says in an interview with SANA: “I achieved in the elementary stage the pioneering leadership at the level of Syria in the field of drawing and decoration for two consecutive years. I traveled to Italy and Libya and was acquainted with many of their artistic and cultural features, which increased my knowledge and experience that enabled me to launch strongly and stick to the world of art that I find. In it myself ”.

Shamma, who graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Damascus, specializing in drawing, explains that she relied on what she drew from her father's experience to develop her passion for art, noting that in all her paintings and participation in local exhibitions, she met with appreciation and admiration from the pioneers of art, both amateurs and great professionals.
Although the works of the artist Rachid Shamma, her first teacher, tended to be abstract, Rasha tended to be more realistic, so she printed her works with her rules and the charm of nature in all its details, recalling how she once drew the pomegranate fruit with great craftsmanship that attracted a French tourist who was visiting our country and immediately acquired it, as decorations for a mosque in France were designed and executed.

Shamma, who participated in many local exhibitions, turned out to have studied for about ten years in technical high schools in Homs, where she worked during those years to complete her artistic career by completing artistic paintings on which some handicrafts were introduced as roses made of satin ribbons, which gave them a different beauty.

The artist Shamma is currently heading to work as a trainer at the Women’s Support Center of the Family Planning Association branch in Homs, where she gives trainees from her experience a lot of ideas and creates artistic paintings that mix between drawing and hand work in an attempt to innovate, uniqueness and develop and introduce new elements to the painting and improve the aesthetic taste in addition to making models and antiques. Art of ceramics and recycling of some environmental waste, such as wood and cloth.

She also helps her husband to practice his passion for painting on glass, which is unique to Homs, so she prepares her drawings and decorations for him.

The artist Shamma called on all talented people of different ages and social strata to practice their tendencies in art and creativity, as the Syrian environment is characterized by its innate richness and the Creator's gift of enchanting beauty in all seasons and throughout geography because our country was and will remain the cradle of civilizations and humanity.

The artist Rasha Shamma is a member of the Fine Artists Union in Homs.
