A number of large trees fell victim to the construction work on the Bernbeurer through-town, explained Wolfgang Tenzer from the horticultural company of the same name from Bernbeuren. In the municipal council, he now presented options for planting.

Bernbeuren - Many possibilities, but he didn't see any trees on the road. Only a few places would offer enough space.

A small row of trees, consisting of two to three trees, could be planted on the south side of the cemetery. And in two groups so as not to obscure the line of sight to the cemetery chapel and parish church, so Tenzer's proposal. He also recommended planting a tree between the cemetery parking lot and Füssener Straße.

Tenzer also looked at the area north of the parish barn. With a box from Telekom and the stream, the possibilities are quite limited here. If so, a shrub would be more likely.

The slope area at the corner of Füssener Strasse and Am Graben can also be planted. The partly steep embankment can be intercepted with large wall blocks, so-called river blocks. He also suggested creating a poor meadow. This not only serves as a habitat for insects, but is also easy and inexpensive to maintain. "The meadow has to be mowed by the community once or twice a year in order to keep the location low in nutrients," said Tenzer, who gave the community council a tip: "Make it as easy as possible for you."

Tenzer's ideas met with great approval in the committee. A lean meadow is more beautiful than a well-structured planting with flowers, according to the echo. In addition, the mixture is coordinated so that something always blooms. Even if Tenzer could not yet give an exact cost, the council voted unanimously to give him the contract for the planting.

“The costs are relatively low,” says Tenzer. He would plant smaller trees and let them "acclimatize instead of taking trees that are already large for a thousand euros". Among other things, Turkish hazel is conceivable. Tenzer has planned linden trees at the cemetery.

He also had another idea for a tree location: Coming from Schongau, for example, a large sycamore maple could be planted. The problem: The area is privately owned and belongs to the mayor's brother. You will start conversations, but of course you cannot force anyone to plant a tree, says Karl Schleich.
