The glasses of the late Indian leader Mahatma Gandhi set a record when they were sold at a British auction.
And the Agence France-Presse quoted the auction house "East Bristol" as saying that the gold-plated glasses worn by Gandhi and made famous in Britain were sold for $ 340,000.
The auction house wrote through its account on the "Instagram" social networking site after selling the glasses that "it was found only 4 weeks ago in its mailbox and left there a gentleman whose uncle got it from Gandhi himself."
The auction house added that "the Indian leader gave his glasses to the seller's uncle when he was working for BP in South Africa during the 1920s or 1930s."
