The elementary and middle school in Wolfratshausen needs to be renovated. The renovation will cost 60 million euros. CSU City Councilor Alfred Fraas has an alternative plan.

Wolfratshausen - The municipality has been working on a plan for several years to renovate and expand the primary and secondary school on Hammerschmiedweg and make it fit for the future. However, the latest cost calculation caused a lot of annoyance in the city council: the variant put together by the councils would cost 60 million euros. Even before the corona pandemic, which will ensure that less tax money flows into the city coffers, it was clear: This is too expensive for the city. During the city council's closed meeting, in which the councils exchanged views on how to deal with the financial consequences of the pandemic, the school project took a large part.

CSU Council Alfred Fraas presented an alternative plan. When asked by our newspaper, he explains: "I saw that the city needed a solution for this project that covers as many aspects as possible and is still affordable." Fraas is "certain that the measure could also be made much cheaper".

The engineer and software developer, whose company, according to his own words, works with around 2,500 schools in Bavaria, worked out an alternative plan in secret. In it he has “included a triple gymnasium, a swimming pool, a large parking garage and the necessary classrooms”. Fraas himself forecast the need for classrooms. Together “with some professionals” he achieved a significantly different result than that of the most recent city cost estimate: “I come to under half the rumored sum of 60 million euros.” The prices are “precisely calculated and negotiated with architects”.

Fraas presented his plans to the committee in the closed conference - Fraas does not want to talk about details or the reactions of the city council colleagues yet, because "I do not report from the closed". The planning details should remain secret for the time being, "because I don't want to take the risk that it will be talked to death".

Town hall chief Klaus Heilinglechner reported to our newspaper that nothing had changed in the current planning of the municipality during the retreat. "The city council will have to decide which modules we can implement." It is possible that individual parts of the planning will still be canceled. There is also the "idea of stretching the construction time a little" so that you don't have to pay off the full costs in one fell swoop. The office commissioned with the overall project is currently looking for savings opportunities. Heilinglechner does not want to comment on the mental game of CSU Council Fraas. "We have already commissioned a plan that we are currently sticking to."

Fraas would like to work on his alternative plan: "It is clear that we need a good solution for the school location, but we spend tax money on it and should therefore look very carefully at how we can save money."
