The Regional Health Agency (ARS) alerted Sunday August 23 to the " very worrying " circulation of the Covid-19 in the naturist village of Cap d'Agde (Hérault), after having recorded " nearly 30% of positive cases " on only one day this week.

More than 800 screening tests were carried out last week. The results of the tests carried out on Wednesday confirmed nearly 30% of positive cases among people who have visited the naturist village of Cap d'Agde ”, wrote Sunday August 23 in a press release ARS Occitanie.

Thus, on Wednesday 57 new positive cases were confirmed out of the 244 validated results, specifies the ARS. " Among the people who volunteered for this screening, the rate of positive cases among people who have visited the naturist village is four times higher than that of people who have stayed in the city of Agde, but who have not visited this village".

Already last Monday, out of the 194 validated samples, 38 cases were positive (20%). These cases were in addition to around fifty reports of people who tested positive after returning home, after a stay in the seaside resort of Cap d'Agde.

The results of the 310 tests carried out on Friday are expected shortly. The organization which calls for " strict compliance with preventive measures and all barrier gestures " within this seaside resort, warns that screening operations will be implemented again from Monday morning. The ARS had already launched an alert on Thursday on the station.

As soon as the results were known, the people declared positive had received in particular " prevention instructions " and were invited if their " clinical condition did not show any sign of seriousness ", to use their personal vehicle to return home.

At the start of the week, the Hérault department was classified as a “ high level of vulnerability ”.
