Minister Scholz in the Babelsberg Film Park in Potsdam 2019: "We fit together very well"
Photo: Florian Gärtner / imago images / Photothek.netCould it be that the man who wants to become Federal Chancellor fails before things really start? On an August evening, the board of directors of the local SPD association Potsdam-Mitte / Nord was having a barbecue in a backyard. A good ten comrades came, there were neck steaks and watermelon. "In theory it would be conceivable that we could manage not to nominate Olaf Scholz," said comrade Rita Schulze suddenly. "What does that mean then?" The group looked at each other questioningly. Then things went wild at the table. "That we drop to 9.9 percent," said one. "That we make a fool of ourselves," another. A present from the Jusos announced that they would not campaign for Scholz.
Scholz, it is also clear in this round, not only has supporters in his new home. The Potsdam-Mitte / Nord local association has 309 members, making it the largest in Brandenburg. A very new member is the newly elected Chancellor candidate of the SPD. And he wants to run here right away. It is about the Bundestag constituency 61, which includes Potsdam and a piece of the surrounding area.
