Right-wing terror in Hanau
On February 19, 2020, a 43-year-old German killed nine people in Hanau - for racist motives: Ferhat Unvar, Gökhan Gültekin, Hamza Kurtović, Said Nesar Hashemi, Mercedes Kierpacz, Sedat Gürbüz, Kaloyan Velkov, Vili Viorel Păun, Fatih Saraçoğlu. The perpetrator murdered in various places in the city, including in a shisha bar on Hanauer Heumarkt and in a kiosk in the Kesselstadt district. He later shot his mother and himself in his parents' house. Before the crime, he wrote a pamphlet that he published online. In it he revealed his racist worldview, shaped by conspiracy theories.
