In a private conversation that has now emerged, however, Maryanne Trump Barry, who has long worked as a judge in various high-ranking US courts, goes hard with her famous brother in court.
Trump is a liar and has no principles, says Trump Barry in a secretly recorded conversation with her niece Mary Trump, which the "Washington Post" published. Among other things, Trump complains Barry about her brother's "goddamn tweets and lies".
Trump Barry also attests to the US President as "mendacious". She also says: "Donald is cruel". Trump Berry also criticizes her brother's lack of preparation for political responsibility. When Mary Trump asked what her brother had read, Trump told Barry, "He doesn't read."
Sister criticizes Trump's immigration policy
Trump Barry accuses the US president in the recordings of separating children from their parents through his restrictive immigration policy and sending them to reception camps on the US southern border.
"He just wants to address his base. He has no principles. None," she says. The conversation was apparently recorded in 2018. At that time, the reception camps in the USA were the subject of public controversy.
The recordings became public just a few weeks after Mary Trump's disclosure book about her uncle was published. The trained psychologist describes the US president as a lying and cold-hearted narcissist. Trump's recently deceased brother Robert had tried unsuccessfully to stop publication of the book. On the day of publication, the 240-page book had sold 950,000 copies.
Trump is said to have cheated on the university entrance exam
In the audio recording, Mary Trump also talks to her aunt about Donald Trump's application tests at the University of Pennsylvania. Trump was only accepted into college because someone else took the exams for him, says Trump Barry. She even remembered the man's name.
"I did the homework for him," says Trump Barry in the recorded conversation about the time before Trump's admission to the university. Her brother was a spoiled kid back then.
Trump and the White House initially did not react to the publication of the recording.
