Portland, Oregon, police arrested 14 people while suppressing a nationwide protest against racism and police violence.
In a statement, according to what Reuters reported, the police accused the detainees of rioting, assault on security forces, and disorderly behavior admitting their use of ammunition "to control crowds of demonstrators who rioted near a government building."
Brawls erupted in central Portland yesterday between anti-racist protesters and right-wing demonstrators, as US President Donald Trump called the protesters in the city crazy and said that "the cities run by Democrats have become chaotic and out of the control of law."
And widespread demonstrations spread across the United States in protest against the racism and crimes of the US police, following the murder of African American George Floyd after a Minneapolis policeman crouched on his neck on the 25th of last May.
