MTR said today (24th) that all overhead cables of the Tuen Ma Line have been energized, and the train dynamic test has begun, and it has officially entered the test and trial operation stage to prepare for the opening of the entire line. MTR Engineering Office General Manager-Engineering Construction Zhou Suhong said that the train test is a key milestone for the entire project, moving towards the goal of opening to traffic. The MTR also pointed out that the Hung Hom Station extension and the modification works of the connected structure have been completed.

The first phase of the Tuen Ma Line was opened to traffic on February 14 this year. The MTR previously expected that the full line will be officially opened to traffic in the third quarter of 2021. Song Wong Tai Station, To Kwa Wan Station, Ho Man Tin Station’s Shazhong Line New Platform, and Hung Hom Station Extensions etc. can be activated.

The MTR stated that the overhead cables of the last section of the Tuen Ma Line were fully energized in July this year, and the train dynamic test of the signal system was also launched in August. Related testing and statutory inspections will be gradually extended to the entire Tuen Ma line. To ensure that the railway system is fully integrated with the existing railway lines and operates smoothly before being put into service. Regarding the engineering issues of Hung Hom Station, the MTR stated that appropriate measures for the expansion of Hung Hom Station and its associated structures have been completed.

Zhou Suhong said that the full electrification of the overhead cables of the Tunma line enabled train testing to be carried out on the entire railway section. This is a key milestone for the entire project and its opening to traffic. He continued that the engineering team is making every effort to complete the remaining works of the Tuen Ma Line and bring railway services to the public.
