BRUSSELS - The European Commission has presented proposals to the EU Council for the activation of a total financial support of 81.4 billion euros for 15 countries, including Italy, to preserve employment (the mechanism called Sure). Once the council has given its ok, the aid will be allocated in the form of low-interest loans. For Italy, 27.4 billion euros are expected, the highest share. Among the 15 Member States there are also Spain (21.3 billion) and Belgium (7.8 billion). Sure is one of the tools deployed at EU level to cope with the socio-economic consequences of Covid-19.
"Today the EU Commission proposes the first package of 81 billion for Sure, support for redundancy-type mechanisms. Recipients 15 countries, 27 billion for Italy. Europe for work". So the European Commissioner for Economy, Paolo Gentiloni, on Twitter.
