  • The city of Geretsried rejected the concept of the host Christian Fahrenschon for a "summer at home"
  • He successfully defended himself with an urgent application to the administrative court
  • The district office has now approved the event

Geretsried - The festival area on Jahnstraße will not remain completely empty this Corona summer. Festwirt Christian Fahrenschon is allowed to organize his forest summer alternative, the "Summer at home", in Geretsried. As reported, he had submitted an urgent application to the administrative court to defend himself against the rejection of the city of Geretsried. The court informed him at the end of last week that his concept was legal, Fahrenschon said when asked.

Now it's going very quickly: This Friday, August 28th, the "Summer at home" opens at 5 pm next to the Heinz Schneider ice rink. Until Sunday, September 13th, up to 400 visitors can enjoy Augustiner beer, chicken, pork knuckle and roast and fish on a stick in the beer garden. Music plays for entertainment. “There will be no beer tent atmosphere,” emphasizes Fahrenschon. "But a cozy beer garden for all generations and an opportunity to get the dirndl out of the closet."

Rides for families with children

In addition to the beer garden, there will be a small amusement park for families with children. Fahrenschon cannot yet say how many rides will be ready. The showmen who wanted to come to Geretsried at the beginning of August were no longer available. A maximum of three sales stands with one or two rides are permitted.

At the beginning of the summer vacation, Mayor Michael Müller canceled the stripped-down version of the forest summer with a view to the corona pandemic. At the same time, he stated: "A legal review of this topic makes perfect sense in case of doubt: we all want clear relationships."

Festwirt: Hygiene requirements are met

Fahrensch already met the demand for legal certainty. "The court sees no reason to treat the 'summer at home' differently than a beer garden or amusement park if we can meet the hygiene requirements," said the host. So be it. In Vaterstetten, where he already held a similar event in July, there was demonstrably not a single infection.

The city of Geretsried confirms that the district office has approved the event as the competent authority. The legal basis for Fahrenschon's concept had been thoroughly examined. "We trust in the responsible behavior of the visitors of the 'Summer at home' as well as a peaceful and respectful coexistence, so that this little change is a success and hopefully offers one or the other a little joy in this stressful time," explains Second Mayor Sonja Frank.

Penzberg city council will decide on Tuesday

Fahrenschon is happy to have “a small perspective that things will continue” with the event in Geretsried. “That brings us further,” says Fahrenschon. His reserves are used up. After the "summer at home" in Geretsried, Fahrenschon hopes to be able to move on to Penzberg. There, the city council will decide on Tuesday whether Fahrenschon is allowed to set up a beer garden with around 500 seats including showman shops on the Berghalde. The committee rejected its concept for twice as many visitors in July. Also in Murnau there was a rejection for the landlord, who spoke of a "professional ban in the Oberland".
