High level of design, but not wasteful (Photo: Assaf Pinchuk)

As part of their main requests, the couple made it clear that the house will be used by them in the coming years when at some point in the not too distant future they will want to make a move to a smaller apartment. The renovation budget allocated for the project was NIS 880,000 (including contractor costs), and the designer devoted much thought to maintaining a high level of design, yet not too wasteful or expensive.

The kitchen has been moved to a location near the garden, to make it easier for homeowners who like to entertain (Photo: Assaf Pinchuk)

The house has not been renovated for about 20 years, and apart from the wear and tear, the division of the space and the design in it were outdated and not practical enough. In addition, part of the house was used as a kindergarten and as a result it was adapted for children both in the strong and colorful colors and in wear and tear created faster thanks to the little ones. The garden was mostly used as a gymboree and as a result the family hardly used it.

The result of the renovation of the bedroom made them want to update the central space as well. The kitchen (Photo: Assaf Pinchuk)

The most challenging part was managing the renovation while the family stayed to live in the house, so the renovation began on the bedroom floor, during which time the family moved into the basement (with a separate entrance). On the bedroom floor a redesign was made, and the master suite was enlarged at the expense of the room of one of the girls, who had already left the house. On this floor there are now 3 spacious and beautiful bedrooms left. The two bathrooms on the floor were also significantly enlarged at the expense of a service balcony and a canceled walk-in closet. The designer has created 2 spacious and luxurious showers, practical storage spaces and decorative corners that will add to the aesthetics of the space.

Monochromatic and non-eye-popping color scheme (Photo: Assaf Pinchuk)

After seeing the result of the renovation on the room floor, the customers "got an appetite" and decided to extend the renovation to the entrance floor, which is the heart of the house. They wanted to give the space a modern, clean and meticulous look and asked that the renovation not "prick eyes" or be "excessive".

The shade scheme chosen for the entrance floor is monochromatic (white-gray-black) with local touches of bold color. The design is modern and contemporary, but not eye-popping, thanks to the use of natural materials such as wood, stone and concrete, alongside clean materials such as glass, aluminum and more. The designer often used geometric elements and straight lines, and added accessories that dress the space and create interest in it.

Dominant lighting fixtures in space (Photo: Assaf Pinchuk)

Lighting (purchased at "GLOW") has a significant and dominant part in the sense of wholeness of the space. It provides different lighting scenarios throughout the house, for the different hours and for the different situations that take place in it (strong lighting / romantic lighting / mood lighting for the evening hours / soft lighting for the hours of watching TV, etc.).

The location of the kitchen has been copied, and it is now located next to the garden. This move created a more correct plan on both the practical level and the design side - the goal was to make it easier for the couple who host quite a bit, and after the renovation they will be able to do so in the renovated yard.

In order to realize the idea, the house was enlarged at the expense of the garden, in accordance with the permitted building lines, and created a rectangular structure that greatly complimented the interior space of the house as well as the courtyard space.

A decision was made to give up the fireplace which was the center of the house but gave a very heavy and cumbersome feeling in the space. As an alternative, underfloor heating was installed, thus creating a sense of well-being and space. The staircase was upgraded and fitted with a new glass railing, and thus also gained a presence in the center of the house.

The basement, which served as a kindergarten, became a housing unit used by guests and family members who come from abroad to stay with the homeowners.
