The Ministry of Education today (Monday) sharply criticized the decision of the chairman of the Education Committee, MK Ram Shefa, who decided not to vote on the outline for reducing payments and the ministry's moves to postpone approval of the parents' payments table for the coming year.
Recall that the Education Committee and also the parent leadership are demanding cuts in parental payments on the grounds that some of the services are not provided, for example, graduation parties, major cultural events and trips. The Ministry of Education, for its part, says that it reduced the amount of payments, but the committee claims that in practice it cut back on services and did not reduce payments. Once the unpaid parental payments are lacking money, the Ministry of Education relies on it to run many programs, including lending textbooks, a daily meal for underprivileged populations, a culture basket, annual trips and more.
Shefa, on the other hand, responded to the Ministry of Health's statement and said: "In an unprecedented way, the Minister of Education makes political use of a government ministry on the backs of Israeli students and parents. I was ashamed to see the Ministry of Education issue an official press release, saturated with Pike News and personal and false accusations "It has a professional and serious attitude, but only cynical politics. And all this, while there is a discussion in the committee from which the minister chose, again, to be absent."
"Instead of honestly admitting that they refuse to reduce parental payments to schools in the circumstances of the corona, the minister and his men lie in a wavy bristle and insist on using parents as a certificate of insurance of their office budget. Whenever the minister is required to take responsibility for his office - he throws it to others. Solutions for hundreds of thousands of parents and students who look up to you. "
