The coming school year will include multiple distance learning starting in fifth grade and up. But one of the biggest concerns in the Ministry of Education is a decline in achievements in mathematics studies, which in recent years have made a significant leap in the field. To this end, the Ministry of Education and the Trump Foundation have recruited the 8200 Alumni Association, which has developed software that makes it possible to monitor the learning and progress of each student in real time.

The systems are installed on teachers 'and students' computers, and both parties can maintain continuous contact in learning. The name of the program is "Learning Near-Far", and it is intended for students in grades 9-10 who are at a critical stage, in the transition between the division and the high school. Teachers will receive an up-to-date picture of students' progress in the material, which will include warning signs that will alert students who are having difficulty. As part of the move, hundreds of math teachers will participate in professional communities where they will consult and improve their teaching.

According to Nirit Katz, MFMR Mathematics at the Ministry of Education: We did a preliminary pilot, and in light of its success the program will expand significantly and include all sectors. We redistributed the study material in mathematics and mapped out what material can be learned by distance learning and what should be taught frontally. "

Attempts to prevent a drop in math scores will also occur in other classes. In grades 7-8, students will be monitored through the educational portal and software that monitors the degree of success in practice, teachers will be able to know how long the student has practiced and in which exercises he has succeeded. In grades 11-12, the study material will become recorded and filmed courses by lecturers from the Technion and in collaboration with Digital Israel.

A key partner in the issue is the Trump Foundation, which has been working for a decade to help the education system stem the decline in math and science studies. "Even before the Corona, high-level math studies were difficult," explains Eli Horowitz, who heads the foundation. "Now to this difficulty is added the challenge of distance learning."

For years the foundation has focused on the effort to double the number of 5 IHL graduates in high school, an effort that has been a success. Now its activities are also expanding to middle schools. Towards high school, "Horowitz explains.

Recall that in June the Ministry of Education called on schools to refrain from group tests in mathematics, which divide ninth-grade students into learning groups at the level of 4 or 5 study units. The ministry recommended teaching 10th grade students in common materials in common materials, for both levels of study, thus allowing as many students as possible to fill in gaps.
