The Prime Minister announced that he had agreed to MK Zvi Hauser's compromise proposal on its two parts - postponing the budget and establishing a joint committee to discuss senior appointments • Despite this, Netanyahu has another window left to dismantle the government and go to the polls in about four months
The threat of the election has been removed, at least for now: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said tonight (Monday) that he instructed Likud members to vote in favor of MK Zvi Hauser's compromise (Derech Eretz), according to which the state budget approval will be postponed by 100 days.
According to Netanyahu, "The last thing the State of Israel needs now is an election. Therefore, I announced yesterday that I accept MK Hauser's compromise proposal on its two parts - both the postponement of the budget and the establishment of a joint appointments committee. I also announced that I will not participate in the nominee's "S., State Attorney and Commissioner of Police."
The Prime Minister added: "Unfortunately, Blue and White who initially agreed to the Hauser compromise then ran away from it, added all sorts of things, changed all sorts of things - and I still think it's irresponsible to go to the polls when we do not have a happy budget series, when we open the school year. Therefore, I instructed the Likud members to vote in favor of postponing the budget. I will continue to do the right thing, avoid unnecessary choices when I don't have to, and I hope that others will behave in this way as well. "
