Whether at 2,962 meters or in the Garmisch-Classic area - all around the Zugspitze, mountaineers big and small float above the clouds. We have loads of tips for your trip to both mountain worlds!

Height experiences for every requirement

The mountain world above the communities of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Grainau offer high altitude experiences for every taste and requirement. With the mountain railways of the Bavarian Zugspitzbahn you can easily get to the starting point for numerous hikes or various viewpoints with wonderful mountain panoramas.

Over 400 mountain peaks in Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland present themselves on the Zugspitze summit - the feeling of limitless freedom is free.

Explore the Zugspitze Glacier

Germany's highest glacier is only 300 meters below the summit. Exciting information about the eternal ice is provided by five interactive experience stations on the GletschErlebnisWeg as well as the glacier guides on their daily, free glacier tours.

For children: AlpinPark Zugspitze

The AlpinPark Zugspitze near the SonnAlpin glacier restaurant awaits the little mountain enthusiasts : a seesaw , a climbing wall , the exciting suspension bridge and the MinispiX - a small viewing platform with a comprehensive view of the mighty Zugspitzplatt - make a day on Germany's highest mountain a great experience for children too .

A fast toboggan run on natural snow ensures cool refreshment even in the warmest season . In the summer months, skid fans can go down the toboggan slope from the Gletschergarten restaurant towards the Zugspitz Glacier. If you don't have your own sledge with you, you can borrow a “Zipfelbob” free of charge on the SonnAlpin terrace .

Great family hikes

For families with children, there are also hikes along the two adventure trails in the Garmisch-Classic area. The 700 meter long summit adventure trail around the Osterfelderkopf has various information points as well as quiz-like and interesting stations. At the end of the summit adventure trail, the spectacular AlpspiX viewing platform is enthroned, offering breathtaking views deep and wide.

From the top station of the Alpspitzbahn the pleasure adventure trail meanders over the Almterrassen to the Hochalm and on to the top station of the Kreuzeckbahn, which brings day trippers back to their starting point in the valley. A total of 18 lovingly crafted stopping points over a length of almost three kilometers bring “the stone realm of the giant from the Alpspitze” to life.

Tip: Two-peak pass of the Bavarian Zugspitzbahn

With the two-summit pass of the Bavarian Zugspitzbahn , the Zugspitze and Garmisch-Classic areas can be easily explored with one ticket. For only 59 euros per person, visitors can experience the full diversity of both mountain worlds.

The highlights such as a visit to the AlpspiX viewing platform, the two adventure trails in the Garmisch-Classic area as well as the summer toboggan slope and the glacier tours on the Zugspitze are included .

The day of purchase of the two-summit pass is the first day of validity of the ticket, the second day can be freely chosen in the 2013 summer season. For two adults and two children (up to and including 18 years of age) the two-summit pass costs a total of 144 euros.
