(CNN Spanish) - In the Spanish capital, the school year will begin in a staggered manner from September 4 to September 28, with Early Childhood Education students joining first and ending with Higher Vocational Training students. The return to the classrooms will be marked by the variety of formats, the sanitary measures and a smaller number of students per class.

The plan prepared by the Government of the Community of Madrid details that students from the age of six must wear a mask on the educational center, included in classes. To facilitate this measure, the regional executive will distribute 9,500,000 masks among students and teachers during the first quarter of the course. This hygienic measure will be complemented with the distribution of 650,000 liters of hydroalcoholic gel.

Regarding face-to-face classes, the educational stages that comprise Early Childhood, Primary, Special Education and the first cycle of Secondary will resume their educational commitments with face-to-face classrooms, although these will be reduced to groups of 20 students or respecting the physical distance of 1.5 meters between them.

From the second cycle of Secondary Education to Professional Training and Adult Education, the classes will be taught in a blended way. To this end, it is established that they must attend classes on alternate days and complement them with online training.

To guarantee the safety of this return to classes, the Community of Madrid has undertaken to carry out voluntary antibody tests on more than 100,000 teachers and support personnel from Madrid centers. Diagnostic tests will be completed with a PCR if positive results are obtained.

However, students will also be considered for inclusion in a serological study. In this, the regional government intends to carry out about 42,500 tests to 13,000 students and 1,500 teachers at three different times.

These and other measures that include the hiring of 11,000 teachers, investment in technology and digitization of schools will cost 370 million euros (more than US $ 437 million), according to the Government of the Community of Madrid.
