Live broadcast from Prof. Gamzo's weekly briefing

Corona projector, Prof. Roni Gamzo, delivered his weekly briefing on the plague today (Tuesday). According to him, although there is a stabilization in the weekly average diagnosed, there is a worrying increase in morbidity, especially among the Arab sector and the ultra-Orthodox population.

"We see very clearly the aliyah in Arab society, and in a broad way: Tira, Umm al-Fahm, Kfar Qassem, Sakhnin and Nazareth," said Prof. Gamzo. "These six localities have a significant and alarming weekly doubling rate." He said, "Weddings and parties are still taking place in Arab society. This creates circles of contagion, and we are suddenly seeing an increase in Haifa. We do not want to reach a situation where we do not control it."

"I call on Arab society, political and local, social and religious leaders - it is truly a disaster," the project manager added. "This is a tumor that brings us to more than 500 new diagnoses every day. We are approaching 28% of the morbidity in Israel. It will soon be a third if we do not stop it."

"The additional complexity is the morbidity in ultra-Orthodox society," Prof. Gamzo continued. "After a period of calm, I have seen an increase in the last few days. In A. Elul, the studies began, and the yeshiva students returned in capsules in an outline that is better than they were walking around or were inside the houses. All these decisions are very complex."

The project manager added that along with the increase in morbidity in certain localities, the decline in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem continues. "Every local authority should take matters into its own hands," he said.

Gamzo also referred to the worshipers' trip to Uman on Rosh Hashanah. "In everything I see as a level of risk, I have to do what I was told to do - reduce the morbidity," the projector said. "The same goes for the trips to Uman on Rosh Hashanah. With all the complexity of the illness and what the doctors and nurses go through - does it make sense or reasonable to get 80 flights out of here? My firm opinion is no, and I will not change my mind."
