PSG-Bayern incidents: up to 10 months in prison during the first appearances

Sentences of up to ten months in prison were pronounced Tuesday, August 25 in Paris during the first immediate appearances for the violence and looting committed around the Champs-Élysées and the Parc des Princes after the final of the Champions League PSG-Bayern Sunday.

The defendants were mainly prosecuted for " violence against a person holding public authority ", " aggravated theft " or " concealment of aggravated theft ". The heaviest sentence, ten months firm with immediate imprisonment, was pronounced against a man with an already full locker, found guilty of attempted theft and breaking into a pharmacy.

Another, guilty of throwing a pavement on the helmet of a CRS, was for his part sentenced to eight months firm - including the revocation of a four-month suspension - also with imprisonment in the wake. Prosecuted for hitting police on motorcycles after refusing to comply, a biker narrowly escaped detention and will serve his four-month sentence at home under an electronic bracelet.

The majority of the other defendants, most of them unknown to the courts, appeared for concealment of goods (ready-to-wear clothes, handbags, bottles of champagne, etc.) from looting of stores, for throwing mortars fireworks or stones on the police without causing injury.

Sentences of two to five months in prison, a fine of 300 euros or hours of community service have been decided against them. Two defendants were released. One of them, arrested for concealing a belt, convinced the court of the unintentional nature of his crime. 152 police custody

A total of 152 people were taken into custody, including 47 minors, after the clashes between the police and groups of young people on Sunday evening, especially around the Parc des Princes and the avenue des Champs. -Elysées where cars were set on fire and shops vandalized.

A second day of immediate appearances is scheduled for Wednesday, with fifteen other defendants. The other people referred after their custody were reminded of the law or subsequently summoned to court. Thirteen others were released pending further investigation, while around forty had their proceedings dismissed.

In addition, two investigations were opened for the looting of two jewelry stores on rue François-Ier, not far from the Champs-Élysées, in which dozens of people could be involved. The investigations must make it possible to identify the suspects. According to Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin, 16 law enforcement officers were injured, 12 stores attacked and around fifteen vehicles damaged.
