In order to contain the current corona outbreak in Holzkirchen, the district office has quarantined further communal accommodations. Since Friday, the nine residents of a second building on Münchner Strasse and four residents of a house in the center of the town have to stay at home for two weeks.

Holzkirchen - The current corona outbreak in Holzkirchen is still a long way from being a hotspot. But the infection rate among the workforce of a local metal construction company is too high for the district health department to just wait and see. The health department fears in particular that the Sars-Cov-2 coronavirus will seep into other companies via this chain of infection.

A collective accommodation facility at Münchner Strasse 20 had already been quarantined on August 15. Six of the 19 residents are corona-positive, five of them work in the company. Now the district office has declared two more accommodations in Holzkirchen a restricted zone, in which - among other things - employees of the Holzkirchen company who tested positive live. Most of the people affected come from Eastern Europe and the Balkans.

Site fence enables residents to get some fresh air

On Friday afternoon, fence elements were again delivered to Münchner Strasse in order to also enclose the neighboring building of the first quarantine accommodation. Nine residents were encountered. "The domestic isolation of positive cases was impossible due to the cramped living conditions with communal kitchens and bathrooms," says district spokeswoman Beate Faus. So all residents have to bite the bullet and stay at home for two weeks. The site fence should enable residents to stay in the fresh air.

The restaurant can be visited without restriction

As the spokeswoman emphasizes, the quarantine expressly does not apply to the Gasthof Oberland on the ground floor of the building. “There is no overlap with the living area, the restaurant can be visited without restrictions,” says Faus.

Also on Friday, the district office imposed a quarantine on a single-family house in the town center that is used by workers as accommodation. A site fence was not necessary here due to the location. Two of the four residents tested positive, but do not work in the Holzkirchen metal construction company, which already has twelve infected employees. "A spread of the virus through roommates in other companies is not excluded," says the spokeswoman for the district office. To what extent this has already happened, further tests should clarify. All 13 residents who were in the two accommodations on Friday were scraped off. The results are still pending.

According to the district office, a security service monitors compliance with the quarantine. He should also receive residents who return from vacation or a visit to their home in Holzkirchen. If they do appear, they too will be tested and will be quarantined.

Currently: 34 active cases in the district

It is gratifying that the total number of new infections in the district has recently been limited. According to the district office, three individual cases have been added since Friday, one in Schliersee and two in Holzkirchen, but they have nothing to do with the outbreak events around the collective accommodation and the company. “The age is remarkable here,” says spokeswoman Faus, “all three people are in their mid-twenties.” In the care facility in Miesbach, where an infected employee was last registered, there were no new cases.

The health department currently has 34 active corona cases in the Miesbach district. No infected person shows serious symptoms. The number of infections registered since the outbreak of the pandemic rose to 650.
