Hurricane Laura is advancing in the Gulf of Mexico toward the United States, where it is expected to intensify to 3 or more strength tomorrow (Wednesday) ahead of its impact on the coast, the National Hurricane Center said. The storm could hit Houston directly, with Texas officials saying hundreds of thousands of residents living in coastal areas should evacuate their homes immediately.
