In honor of International Dog Day which took place today (26.8.20) we received a number of new products for review, Ghost, Spitz Dog and our house model, checked and barked, and these are the conclusions.
Sushi for dogs
Bioft, a marketer of the "Bonzo" brand, is coming out in honor of Dog Day with a new line of dog snacks. The leading gimmick is "Sushi for Dogs". Next to it we got another snack: "Crispy chicken rings". These two snacks are part of Bonzo's new snack series, borrowed from the culinary world of humans and include: beef and fish nuggets, sushi in several flavors, lamb and salmon skewers, duck-filled sandwich strips, sausages and more.
Price: Absolutely fair - NIS 19.90 (in pet stores and veterinary clinics).
The gimmick: likable, but maybe a little redundant. There is no connection between "sushi" and Bonzo's product. This is a fairly standard snack in terms of shape and serving. Even those "crispy chicken rings" didn't really score, neither to the world of rings in terms of shape nor to the world of fried chicken of humans. Beyond the shape, even in terms of smell, there is no connection between the names of the products and their fragrance. As for the taste, it's hard for us to say, we'll have to ask the dog.
The pluses: The "sushi" snack was very successful. The taste seemed to hit our dog bull: the snacks we tested were devoured within seconds and the dog arrived asked for more. The size of the snack is not too large and can certainly be used as a chopper between meals or for positive reinforcement during training. The smell is almost imperceptible, and you can even touch the snack with your hands, as the smell evaporates quickly. We did not find a lot of pluses for the "crispy chicken rings" snack beyond its taste, which, according to our dog's mood, was very satisfying.
Cons : The crispy chicken rings snack left a pungent and unpleasant odor on the hands. The shape of the snack is light years away from what you see in the picture on the product bag, so even there it seems that they missed a bit.
