Several local authorities have decided to establish new programs for boys and girls for gender and sex education, following the recent rape case in Eilat and other sexual assaults. According to them, the harsh acts raised the need for a dedicated and purposeful education on the issue of gender equality and sexuality.

Givatayim was among the authorities that announced that they would work on the issue, as well as in Tel Aviv, where principals announced that they would set up a thinking team together with the parents to prevent similar cases. The Haifa municipality has formulated a plan that will include children from kindergarten to high school age.

At the Sha'ar Hanegev Council, where some of the boys suspected of gang rape are studying in Eilat, the head of the council sent a letter to residents and students stating that following the recent events, high school students will take a dedicated lesson plan on the subject. The council is working on a comprehensive and professional program that will provide a tailored solution for children even at younger ages.

Last week, Givatayim Mayor Ran Konik published a post announcing that the city's director of education will set up a team of dedicated teams that will provide information and address violence and sexuality among youth and strengthen knowledge in the areas of gender, sexuality and equality. According to Irit Aharonson, head of education in the city, the program is in the making and the city is going to provide a support system from kindergartens to 12th

. Kindergarten children will learn to respect the other's body, we will learn from kindergarten age that they do not touch each other without permission. The earlier we start the better the results will be. In first and second grades we are already going to talk to them about gender equality and the issue of human dignity, in third grade we bring up the issue of friendships and step up in the discourse.

According to her, the director of education will give a variety of programs and each principal will choose according to his time system what content to give. "We will include lectures on dealing with pornography in online curricula that will enter all schools from seventh grade and up. Of course, parents will be given comprehensive instructions on how to deal with children so they can receive information from them and computers, WhatsApps and the psychological service will open a line for parents."

In Tel Aviv, the principal of Urban D School, Nati Stern, sent a letter to parents in which he wrote that he was interested in establishing a thinking team of parents and teachers that would deal with making sexual sexuality issues accessible. "The whole issue of sexuality and pornography is completely out of control," NEWS "We get 14- and 15-year-olds who really believe that pornography is reality. Then their whole moral perception is distorted not even evil, but because that's how they think the world is run, and then a woman becomes an object."

According to Stern, "We will carry out trial programs in two layers of gender to talk about the story that is not present and the second thing is to really ultimately bring about a dialogue with students about healthy sexuality and respect for man and girls and women in particular."

The Education Administration of the Haifa Municipality has also formulated, together with the parents' administration in the city, a broad curriculum that will deal with, among other things, gender, equality, human and body dignity and sexuality. According to the municipality, this is a new program that includes the entire age range - from kindergartens to high schools. Kindergartens will hold training courses on gender equality education for assistants and kindergarten teachers, as well as the contents of a list of recommended books on gender and human dignity and the body, which are intended for compulsory and pre-compulsory ages.

In primary education, it has been determined that the content of a covenant is unique to each school, which will deal with mutual respect, bodily dignity, and a workshop on gender equality for fifth graders will be held with the psychological service. And yes, there will be online workshops for parents, educators and principals led by the psychological service that will deal with dialogue with the children as well as healthy sexuality. Students in post-primary education, according to the municipality, will hold workshops on the prevention of marital violence and the education and counseling staff will conduct a workshop by the Center for Assistance to Victims of Sexual Assault.

"We have an educational and social responsibility to deal with issues of gender equality, human dignity and the body, to encourage personal responsibility, social involvement and intervention to end violence, today more than ever," said the head of the Haifa Municipality's Education and Youth Administration, Ilana Truk.

Sigal Zioni, who holds an education portfolio in the Haifa municipality, explains that the municipality thought of formulating a plan that would focus on gender and equality before that, but following the suspicion of rape in Eilat, they decided to sharpen the messages on sexual violence and sexual perception. "We have decided that it is impossible to wait for the next disaster, and that is the order of the day. And since the issue is much more complex, we need to think holistically."

Zioni believes that this is first and foremost about education, and that parents must be an integral part of the program, which will enter the education system as early as the coming school year. "We have created a social reality that is very violent and distorted. The perception of sexuality takes on wrong meanings and only by way of a full educational sequence from kindergarten to high school."
