- BY ULRIKE HÖRL Haimhausen - A 1.1 megawatt solar power system is being built on an open field near the Heiglweiher in Haimhausen on an area of around four hectares. Mayor Torsten Wende, Dr. Torsten Hass from Phönix Sonnenstrom AG in Sulzemoos and the landscape architect Hans Brugger broke ground. <BR>
<P> The electricity that will be generated in the future will be fed into the E.ON power grid. The community of Haimhausen receives remuneration of 40.60 cents per kilowatt hour. "The Haimhauser solar power system is the first municipal system in southern Bavaria," emphasized Torsten Wende. With the system, the municipality has achieved the goal of covering 100 percent of its energy needs from renewable energies. In addition to the new photovoltaic system, Haimhausen has three hydropower plants and a farmer's biogas system. <P> The CO 2 emissions in Haimhausen are reduced by 1000 tons per year with the new system. The total costs for the photovoltaic system amount to five million euros. The project is financed with ten percent equity from the Haimhauser municipal company and 90 percent with low-interest loans. The feed-in tariff is set for 20 years. The community receives 430,000 euros a year from the system. <P> The photovoltaic system consists of 7,000 solar modules. Concrete is not used when inserting the brackets. The arable land can therefore be recultivated in 25 years after its useful life. At the groundbreaking ceremony, Haimhauser councilor Bernhard Seidenath (CSU) said: "The photovoltaic system is Haimhauser's answer to the Chernobyl nuclear reactor disaster 20 years ago." <P>
