Geneva - Sana

The Russian President’s Special Envoy to Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, announced that the meetings of the Syrian Constitutional Debating Committee will resume in Geneva tomorrow or the day after.

Sputnik quoted Lavrentiev as telling reporters today that the infection of a number of participating delegations with the Corona virus “led to some adjustments in the work of the committee,” adding: “Until today it was not clear whether the consultations would continue or not. The UN Secretary-General's envoy told us. To Syria, Pedersen changed that the results of the tests carried out by the Swiss doctors showed that there is no risk to the health of the participants in the consultations and they can continue.

And Lavrentiev continued: "Therefore, it was agreed to continue consultations tomorrow or the day after tomorrow at the latest."

Yesterday, the United Nations announced the suspension of the meetings of the mini-committee emanating from the expanded body of the constitutional debate committee in Geneva, after the discovery of coronavirus infections among the participating delegations.
