(CNN Spanish) - We know that nowadays musical fusions are related to being “in”, being fashionable. From pop with mariachi to reggaeton and bachata. But if we tell you that Latin rhythms are coming to the Middle East and they are mixing with Saudi rhythms, could you imagine?

DJ Omar Basaad presents the song “Contra el Mundo”, a mix of various Latin American rhythms with Saudi music: “My music has a global sound that is based on a unique approach, which gives you the feeling of a theatrical coexistence between cultures. I can take you to an island through my music, but I can also make it look like a movie. I have always liked to approach different styles of music, from R&B, dance, to pop. This is largely due to my interest in different cultures and a love for music that brings people together under one roof, regardless of language.

“Mixing different sounds is always a challenge, but for me, my substantial knowledge of Latin rhythms and the diverse approach to sound made things sensible. The Middle East is rich with complex rhythms and instruments, and as a producer coming from that background, creating different types of music with knowledge of Middle Eastern culture, I know that instruments are always a niche when it comes to mixing different types. of music. I can see that now, music has been integrated with different cultural sounds in the modern pop world, ”says Basaad, who in 2014 received a nomination in the Best Middle Eastern Artist category at the MTV EMA Awards.

Omar Basaad affirms that he will continue to release different songs until the end of the year, while continuing to work on an EP for 2021. “It has been an interesting year for the music industry, with the covid-19 all artists are affected, although we should to be on tour right now, I'm working on more music and hopefully by next year we'll all come together under one roof coexisting in shows.
