Rabbi Micha Halevi, rabbi of the city of Petah Tikva, paid tribute to him: "Here, at the Sgula junction, they tried to cut off your life's work. Rabbi Shai, who was here until a few hours ago, was a disappearing personality. Hidden to the tools. "We ask him to pray for all of us."

MK Uriel Bosso of Shas Safed: "The whole world has been shocked by this terrible tragedy. In recent weeks we have been dealing with the demolition of terrorist homes. But I know you are sure you would wave your hand in dismissal and say it will not help."

Eviatar Cohen, who lived in the neighborhood of Ohayon when it lived in the settlement of Sha'ar Ephraim, said: "He was a humble, pleasant and quiet person. "This is a great loss to us as a neighborhood and to the people of Israel."

Ohayon was on his way home. He took a bus from the kollel in Kfar Saba, got off at Sgula Junction and was on his way home. So the terrorist attacked him and stabbed him several times. He was rushed to Beilinson Hospital, however despite the doctors' efforts did not survive the serious injury.

Yosef David, a close friend of Ohayon, told "Israel Today": "He studied at the kollel in Kfar Saba. We studied there together. I was with him when he got on the bus to Sgula Junction. He is married and has four children. He studied and was ordained a rabbi. He also studied and worked. And provided for his family with dignity. He had tickets to the artist and he waited to see if it was possible to fly there. He was righteous. He was an amazing man. Holy Blessed is he who took a holy man. He was killed for sanctifying the name. It is hard for me to digest. It is a hard loss. His family does not digest ".

Preliminary investigation reveals that the stabber pulled out a large knife for cutting meat, attacked the wounded man and stabbed him several times. He then escapes towards Purple Junction as civilians chase after him. Police vehicles arrived at the scene near the incident - and then the suspect was caught with the knife on his body.
