The Renault Kangoo was parked in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Flores when, suddenly, from inside the car, the screams and cries of a 4-year-old boy were heard by policemen patrolling the area. The little boy was alone and they decided to break the window to rescue him. The parents appeared half an hour later: they were buying fabrics.
This Wednesday, the Criminal, Misconduct and Misdemeanor Prosecutor's Office No. 24, headed by Rodrigo Manuel Pagano Mata, decided to accuse the baby's parents, who work in the textile sector , for abandonment of the person .
The minor's parents are 38 and 37 years old and of Bolivian nationality.
This is how the City Police rescued the 4-year-old boy who was locked up in the Kangoo.
“They said the baby was sleepy and that's why they left him in the car; and they went to buy fabrics ”, sources of the case told Clarín .
In the images of the rescue, at least, it is not observed that the car has the corresponding safety seat to carry children under 10 years of age in the back seat, as established by the Traffic Law.
It all happened on Tuesday just before 4:30 p.m. in Bogotá at 3050, in Flores, when the agents of the Neighborhood Police Station 7 C of the City Police heard that from inside a car a boy called for help and was crying inconsolably.
When the policemen looked out, they saw that it was the baby who had been left alone in the car and, immediately, they began to look for who or who had left him locked up.
In the back seat it is not seen that there is a child safety seat, as required by law.
Failing to find the adults responsible for the boy, the agents decided to act: first. They used the tonfa to pry open the rear side window and then one of the officers put his body in the car to rescue him.
It was half an hour after taking the little boy out of the car that the parents appeared.
Given this, this Wednesday the prosecutor Pagano Mata, in charge of the case, decided to charge the couple for the crime of abandonment of person.
According to judicial sources, the prosecutor gave an intervention to the Council for the Rights of Girls, Boys and Adolescents of the City of Buenos Aires: the restitution of the little boy to his parents was ordered.
