"For us this is a single disaster"

The Mitterweg / Pentenriederstrasse / Margaretenstrasse intersection in Krailling has been closed for more than four months since mid-July. For the surrounding shops and restaurants, this is another, sometimes very big problem in Corona times.

Krailling - As part of the redesign of the town center, the municipality of Krailling has had the crossing area blocked since mid-July (we reported). "For us it is a complete disaster," says Sabri Konxheli, tenant of the Kraillinger brewery. Due to the closure and diversions, many people who are unfamiliar with the location would not find the brewery and would either not come or, in the best case, park somewhere else and walk to it. “That's why the phone kept ringing, especially at the beginning. Even now there is hardly a different topic at any table. A lot of people ask me why this was done to us, ”says Konxheli.

Around 20 percent fewer guests

An estimated 20 percent fewer guests would come to the restaurant due to the closure. “Then there is the general exceptional corona situation. If the weather turns bad, we have to see whether we can survive until November, ”says Konxheli. Another particular problem is the nearby second construction site of the Würmtal-Zweckverband on Mitterweg and the resulting closure. The corresponding signs were also only installed one week after the start of the closure because they had not been ordered in time. “At least on one of the two construction sites, hardly anything happened at first. So I wonder why the lockdown has to take so long, ”says Konxheli.

Other business people are also feeling the effects. Around 40 percent fewer customers currently come to “Andis Getränkequelle”. “There are fewer and fewer customers in August, but not nearly as many fewer. Almost every customer who comes to the store complains about the situation. I can't cross the street myself with my electric bee, ”says owner Andreas Torke.

Complaints about construction site noise

“Fortunately, we have many regular customers who come anyway. But it is a bit less - and the construction noise is incredibly loud for us, ”reports Ilaria Laura Curesciuc, owner of“ Monroe's hair team ”. The large construction vehicles also stopped directly in front of the windows of the salon. Claudia Paris, owner of the stationery store "Inkblot", also complains about the noise: "That is very stressful." However, customer parking spaces could not be used now, as beer garden visitors frequented them who did not want to take detours to the Kraillinger brewery. On the other hand, customers from Talangerstrasse, for example, don't know how to get over to her.

The situation is also “not so pleasant” for Spielwaren Kappler, reports owner Waltraut Kappler. The disadvantages would be limited for the toy store, most people would find the store anyway. It would be bad, however, “if the lock-up lasts longer than November and breaks the Christmas business for us,” says Kappler. “Michelle's nail salon” notices no problems: “You can still drive in and park with me. My customers know and act accordingly, ”says owner Michelle.

The second construction phase is still ahead

“I've heard from many that they are having problems with the lockdown. When you walk through Krailling, you can hear people everywhere who don't understand why the construction work is still being carried out in the middle of the Corona period, ”says Heidelinde Bothe, chairwoman of the Krailling trade association. The community argues that people should go shopping on foot or by bike. “But you just can't get a lot of people on their bikes to go shopping. They want to drive from A to B, put their things in the trunk and that's it. I have heard from some of them who are now going to Stockdorf, for example, ”reports Bothe, who also reminds us that there will be another closure for the second construction phase next year. The problem will therefore persist for a long time. "I feel sorry for the shops because I know what a construction site means for a drop in sales," says Heidelinde Bothe.
