Erding (pde) - Largely unnoticed, most of the specialist work disappears in drawers. Apparently, this hurts some teachers even more than the students who have done the work so that it lowers the average of their high school diploma. Dr. Hans Bauer, teacher at the Erdinger Gymnasium, was not only sorry for the many hours spent researching and writing, but in many cases also for the content of the specialist theses. That is why he suggested to the historical association to offer a "researcher prize" for noteworthy, unpublished studies.

The award, endowed with 250 euros, has now been awarded for the fourth time. It went to the 21-year-old Dominik Aulehner from Erding, who examined the Erding thermal baths as a potentially promising economic factor for the region as part of the advanced business course.

This work also offers informative reading for readers who are interested in the district and its recent history, because Aulehner once again recalls the creation of the association for geo-heating, the complicated search for investors and the construction of the thermal baths. He gives an insight into the structure of the operating company, presents its financing concept and calculates that it will work brilliantly so far. Aulehner interviewed main shareholder Josef Wund, managing director Jörg Wund and managing director Uwe Barth, and also spoke to hotel owners and representatives from the catering and retail sectors about the effects of the thermal baths on their industries. His conclusion: "The thermal baths enriched the Erdinger's life."

The technical work is unabridged and printed with a number of diagrams and graphics in the annual journal 2002, which is available for three euros (Historischer Verein Erding, Dall`Armi-Straße 4, 85435 Erding) and can be viewed in all libraries. Aulehner, who studies metrology in Munich, wished the club members succinctly: "Have fun browsing."
