A section specializing in the fight against poaching has been ambushed by "terrorists", the army said on social networks, using the term by which it generally refers to jihadists.
This is the second time that Malian security forces have suffered such heavy losses since the military seized power in a coup on August 18.
Four Malian soldiers were killed on Saturday by the explosion of a device as their vehicle passed, also in the center, one of the main hotbeds of the violence which has killed thousands of soldiers and civilians since 2012 in Mali and which spread since 2015 in neighboring Burkina Faso and Niger. The army also suffered significant material damage Thursday, she said. She added that she was unable to comment on the losses suffered by the enemy.
