Weekend of Uncertainty - The school year will open next week, but it will not happen for everyone: The Ministries of Health and Education have agreed that the opening of the school year in "red" cities will be examined according to the situation and there is a possibility to postpone the opening for 10-12 students until after the holidays. . The decision on the issue will be made earlier this week.

A total of 2.4 million students in the education system, about 529,000 kindergarten children and another 1,871,000 students from first to twelfth grade will begin the year. About 169,000 students will begin their journey in schools for the first time and will move up to first grade. The Ministry of Education states that in kindergartens (6-3) and grades 1-2, learning takes place as a series, not divided into groups. In grades 3-4, learning will take place in capsules of up to 18 students per class - they will study in buildings of grades 5-6. That they will learn mostly from home.

More on this topic:

• Less school fees, more expenses: The next school year will be more expensive

• "Big responsibility on the shoulders": Teachers are afraid of starting a school year that will look completely different

• Short adaptation in kindergartens and reduction of study material in matriculation: This is how the 5771 school year will open

Bar (10.5) and Rumi (9) Avital from Petah Tikva will take advantage of the last weekend to go to the sea and bowling. Bar is in the fifth grade and will study with other peers, mostly from a distance. He says that the thing that bothers him most is the social aspect: "At school I used to meet my friends every day, and now I will see them at school only two days a week. It is not enough, it is very boring to be alone all day. I will try to set with them at other times In the afternoon, go down to the garden together and play football. " Recall that there was criticism of the outline of the Ministry of Education claiming that children aged 11-10 will have difficulty operating in a computerized environment: "If I have a computer glitch I am not sure I will know how to fix it, in which case I will switch to learning from the smartphone screen."

The education system will include 25,789 educational institutions, of which 20,616 are kindergartens and another 5,137 are schools. The spearhead of the system are 179 thousand teachers. In recent days, teachers have come to the schools, especially those who will teach in the lower classes in order to decorate and prepare the classrooms. In some schools, meetings have already been held with the teachers - to ease the load of the first day.

Teacher Hoodia Hagar from Haim Hefer School in Petah Tikva arrived yesterday morning to decorate and prepare the classroom. In the evening she has already met her classmates with their parents in small groups: "It is exciting every time to reopen a year with first graders, to get to know the students - it is a real holiday. This year, because of the corona, we face many difficulties, we want the children to adapt "Properly, they should be available for learning, and we have found creative solutions for them - we are preparing a real happening for them for September 1."

The coming school year also brings with it innumerable problems, the main of which is distance learning and alongside the severe shortage of end-to-end resources like computers for the benefit of incapacitated students.
