Russia has renewed its warning that the US deployment of medium and short range missiles in different regions of the world would be a risky move and lead to a new round of arms race.
Sputnik news agency quoted the official spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, as saying today in a briefing: “Of course, the emergence of additional missile risks targeting the Russian territories requires an immediate response on our part ... and we are convinced that a reasonable measure is the joint search between Moscow and Washington for an acceptable settlement. For the two parties on the current situation by political and diplomatic means.
The Russian Foreign Ministry recently announced that Moscow and Washington discussed, in consultations in Vienna on the 22nd and 23rd of last June, extending the START 3 treaty, which was concluded in 2010 and expires in February of next year, and maintaining stability against the background of ending the treaty limiting medium and short-range missiles. .
On the other hand, Zakharova announced that the statements of the conflict parties in Libya regarding the implementation of the ceasefire are encouraging, pointing out that Moscow always calls for an urgent end to hostilities.
"We call on the parties to immediately launch the Libyan talks within the framework of the mechanisms established by the decisions of the Berlin Conference on Libya on January 19 and UN Security Council Resolution 2510," Zakharova said.
Zakharova noted that Moscow is confident that there is no alternative to a political settlement of the Libyan crisis and is calling for the establishment of a sustainable cessation of hostilities in Libya.
Since the NATO aggression against it in 2011, Libya has been suffering from chaos and insecurity in light of the proliferation of weapons and terrorist organizations that have tried to impose their influence and control over various cities and regions, especially in the capital, Tripoli, where the militias of the Government of National Accord supported by the Turkish regime are spread.
