Initially planned for last spring and postponed due to a pandemic, the retrospectives and thematic routes are starting up again this fall.

In Paris but also in the provinces, fashion, sneakers and jewelry are exhibited in exceptional places. Follow the guide.

In progress, until January 10, 2021: “Playground - The design of sneakers” in Bordeaux

Through some fifty sneakers, tennis or running shoes - whatever their names - from 1900 to today, the “Playground - The design of sneakers” exhibition traces the history of this sports shoe which invaded the asphalt. Object of desire (especially for sneakerheads, these collectors who speculate on specialized sites) as much as the fruit of technological innovation, it reflects the advent of street culture and nourishes the imagination of equipment manufacturers as well as luxury brands. Scenography by the French designer Mathieu Lehanneur, archives of major brands and leading institutions in the field occupy the space of the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design in Bordeaux which, for the occasion, even installed a basketball court in its main courtyard.

More than 200 pieces, clothes, costumes, accessories, shoes set against the masterpieces of the 18th century, Westwood's favorite century, take place in the architecture of the Hôtel de Villeroy. The majority of these fashion pieces come from the collection of Lee Price, a former collaborator of the designer, based in Lyon. Not to be missed are the wonderfully cut Harris tweed jackets, the tartans, a selection of shoes including the famous Pirate Boots and even a podium set up within the course to allow visitors to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of a parade.
