Awkwardly mentioned, quickly abandoned: the hypothesis of postponing regional elections has fizzled out. The excuse of strengthening the power of the regions in order to better involve them in the implementation of the recovery plan has not convinced. Everyone understood that the Macronian majority wanted to postpone the regional because they could not win them. Scared by a hasty and reckless optimism for the municipal elections, LREM approaches this last five-year ballot with a mixture of concern and modesty.

Caution, it must be said, is essential to all. In line with municipal elections, will voters approach these regions as a local deadline, again granting a bonus to the outgoing? As in spring, this would benefit those leaving. LR and the PS hope so. Or will they consider them as a national test, one year before the presidential election, by imposing a form of recomposition of political life?
