Berlin-SANA
European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell announced that the bloc is preparing sanctions against the Turkish regime that can be discussed at its next summit next month as a way to respond to its violations in the eastern Mediterranean.
Greece, Cyprus, the European Union and NATO called on NATO yesterday to not tolerate the aggressive actions of the Turkish regime that destabilize the region.
Reuters quoted Borrell as saying in a statement that "these measures may include individuals, ships, or the use of European ports," noting that the European Union will focus on everything related to "businesses that it considers illegal."
Borrell explained that the foreign ministers of the European bloc meeting in Berlin agreed that in the absence of progress on the part of the Turkish regime to reduce tension with Greece and Cyprus in the Eastern Mediterranean, we may put a list of more measures expected to be discussed during a summit in Brussels scheduled to be held on the 24th of next September.
It is noteworthy that the Turkish regime yesterday extended the mission of one of its ships to explore for gas in the eastern Mediterranean and announced new naval exercises in continuation of its hostile and provocative practices that met with international condemnation and denunciation, especially by Greece.
