Two men suspected of having killed a young man in the district of Izards, confronted with an important drug trafficking in Toulouse, were indicted Friday, August 28, in particular for " murder in an organized gang ", indicated the lawyer of the 'one of them. The two men - aged 20 and 28 according to the prosecution - were arrested shortly after the shooting against the victim, on the night of Monday to Tuesday. Already involved in cases related to drug trafficking, they were placed in pre-trial detention, Me Pierre Le Bonjour told AFP.

The police had stopped them near a stopped vehicle, chased after having stormed out of the scene of the shooting. Weapons, including weapons of war according to the police union Alliance, were discovered in the trunk of the vehicle, reported stolen. The victim, 27 years old according to the prosecution, was known to the police for drug trafficking. Shot in the back, the young man died in hospital. According to Me Pierre Le Bonjour, his exact age remains questionable, because he could have been in an irregular situation.
Possible "connections" with other shootings
On August 10, a 29-year-old man, unknown to the police, was killed and two others, already convicted of narcotics cases, injured in a shooting in the same sensitive area. At the end of June, sixteen people had been arrested as part of a major operation to combat drug trafficking in Izards.
In mid-July, a man in his twenties was also shot dead in the middle of the night near the Toulouse Stadium. " Most of these cases are already pending before the investigating magistrates, most recently for the acts of murder and attempted murder in an organized gang that occurred on August 10, " noted in a statement the prosecutor of Toulouse, Dominique Alzeari.
The investigations will " also focus on highlighting possible connections between these different events, " he added. The older of the two indicted was injured in the shooting in July 2017 in Toulouse, which left one dead and seven injured, and for which investigators favor the track of a settling of scores linked to drug trafficking.
