US President Donald Trump officially accepted the Republican Party's candidacy for the November presidential election tonight (Friday). In a speech at the Republican convention in the White House in Washington, D.C., he attacked his rival, Joe Biden, the Democratic presidential candidate. Trump has claimed that he serves as a defender against the anarchy and extremism that Biden will promote if he wins the election and has promised to stem the corona plague.

"No one will be safe in Biden's United States," Trump declared. "These elections will decide whether we save the American dream, or whether we allow a socialist agenda to ruin our precious future," Trump said. "They will decide if we protect law-abiding Americans, or if we unleash violent criminals who threaten civilians."

Trump calls the anti-police and racist protesters who have haunted the streets of the United States since the killing of director George Floyd "anarchists," and several hundred of them demonstrated during the speech outside the White House gates, and they were heard despite the new fence erected this week. The issue has flared up again in recent days, following riots in the town of Canosha, Wisconsin, following the shooting of a police officer in the back by a black man, who remained hospitalized in critical condition.

The end of the Republican convention heralds the beginning of the last ten weeks before the November election, with 78-year-old Biden still leading the polls on 74-year-old Trump. The two will meet next month for presidential confrontations, and they are expected to be particularly ugly.

Trump addressed an audience of more than a thousand people, despite restrictions on curbing the spread of the corona. In the plaza on the White House lawn, dozens of state flags were hoisted, and the crowd chanted "Four More Years" and "The United States."

The audience sat in chairs a few inches apart. The vast majority of them did not observe the rules of social distance or wore masks to protect themselves from the virus, which resulted in the deaths of 180,000 people. Another 5.8 million people were infected with the virus. These are the highest figures in the world.

Trump stressed in his speech that if Biden, a "socialist Trojan horse," wins the next election, he will only make the situation in the country worse. "For the past four years we have been trying to repair the damage Biden has done in 47 years," the president attacked his opponent, whom he mentioned more than 40 times by name, compared to Biden, who did not explicitly mention him in his speech last week.

In an attempt to portray Biden as a tool in the hands of the "radical left," Trump has distorted the Democratic Party's policy positions on various issues, such as immigration, weapons possession, law enforcement, abortions and even energy production.

Trump said that at last week's Democratic convention, its speakers belittled America when they described it as a place of racial, social and economic injustice. "So tonight," he added, "I ask you a very simple question - how can the Democratic Party seek to lead our country when it spends so much time tearing up our country? In the distorted view of the left, they do not see America as a free, just nation. and unique on earth.

"the leftists do not consider the United States a nation of justice and freedom - but a weak nation that punish her for her sins."

Biden: "Do you feel safe in Trump's America?"

Biden attacked Trump back in the wake of his speech. "When Donald Trump said tonight that you would not be safe in Joe Biden's America, look around and ask yourself: How safe do you feel in Donald Trump's America?" The former vice president tweeted.

In addition, the Democratic candidate said he would resume his campaign, which was frozen following the corona outbreak. Trump's campaign mocks him for running the race from the basement of his home in Delaware in recent months over fears of being tested for the virus.

Prior to Trump's speech, his deputy, Camela Harris, delivered a speech not far from the White House. "Donald Trump does not understand the presidency," the senator said. "Donald Trump has failed to do the most basic and important job of the President of the United States: to protect the lives of American citizens, just like that."

Biden is expected today to have the support of more than 160 Republican officials who worked for President George W. Bush. Bush or for former Republican candidates Mitt Romney and John McCain.

Ivanka defended her father

Other speakers during the fourth and final day of the conference tried to present the president as empathetic.
"I'm with his father and I saw the pain in his eyes when he gets updates on the life stolen by this epidemic," his daughter Ivanka Trump said.

Jaron Smith, a White House adviser on racial injustice in the U.S. legal system, said the president "really cares."

Other speeches were the parents of Kayla Muller, who was abducted by ISIS and killed in Syria in 2015. They praised Trump for ordering the assassination of the organization's leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, in an operation that bore their daughter's name.

"Trump's people have expressed to us an empathy like the one we have never received from the Obama administration," Father Carl said.
Others spoke in praise of Trump as a leader who brings law and order, echoing the message they tried to convey to the Republican Party during the conference.

One of them was the widow of 77-year-old David Dorn, a retired black police officer who was shot to death during riots in St. Louis in June while trying to defend his friend's business. "Violence and destruction are not legitimate forms of protest. They do not preserve the lives of blacks. They destroy them," she said in a strangled voice.
