The fire broke out on Wednesday in a pine forest with very rugged relief in the town of Montguers in the south-east of the department.

The fire in the Drôme, which burned 200 hectares for a total of 250 traveled, is now fixed, the firefighters of the department told AFP on Friday evening. " The fire should no longer progress, so it is now a question of extinguishing all the residual fires so that there is no resumption of fire ", as was the case on Thursday afternoon, explained the commander. Dominique Lemblé, specifying that 260 firefighters were still mobilized.

The fire broke out on Wednesday in a pine forest with very rugged relief in the town of Montguers in the south-east of the department. It was then set Thursday morning, before resuming in the afternoon and then stretching into the night, " fanned by the wind ", according to Lieutenant-Colonel Christophe Duringer.

The firefighters were up to 320 on the ground to try to control the flames, despite an intervention complicated by the geography of the area: isolated, devoid of homes and with very few tracks. In particular, the emergency services called on tactical teams to light backfires.
