The chairman of the Regani Tzohar organization, Rabbi David Satyu, this evening (Saturday) attacked the Minister of Construction and Housing, Yaakov Litzman, who threatened to resign from the government if a closure was imposed on Israel during the holidays, saying that the Israeli public must not be dragged into health risks.

"Judaism is not comparable - we must not drag the Israeli public into risks taken in other areas where there is a gathering," said Rabbi Satyu. "Preserving the human soul is a supreme value in Judaism. We, the bearers of the Jewish flag, are supposed to act according to the truth that the Torah commanded us, and not to consider the behaviors of others."

More on this topic:

• Minister Litzman threatens: "We will consider resigning from the government if a closure is imposed during the holidays"

• More than 900 dead from Corona in Israel

• The situation is serious - let the corona commissioner Gamzo manage the crisis

Referring to Minister Litzman's remarks about the demonstrations in recent weeks in front of the Prime Minister's Residence in Jerusalem ("their approval, along with the opening of cultural centers, destroyed public confidence in the system"), he said that "even if the demonstrators err in their behavior, it does not justify our irresponsible behavior. "Despite the immense pain that closure will cause to millions of Jews, the whole house of Israel alike must adhere to the phrase 'and you have kept your souls very much'."

The rabbi of Shoham called on Litzman to find the best solutions so that the celebrants can celebrate the holiday and observe its mitzvos without endangering the rest of the population. Rabbi Stav also called on members of the Corona Cabinet to make professional decisions and avoid political pressure "to help stop the poor snowball from tens of thousands of citizens of the State of Israel."
