The new year of training begins on September 1st. This means that 221 young people are starting their apprenticeships in the Erding district alone.

Erding - If you haven't found anything yet, you don't have to throw the gun in the grain. This is emphasized by the master craftsman Rudolf Waxenberger and the president of the Chamber of Crafts, Franz Xaver Peteranderl.

A year ago there were 215 new training contracts, seven fewer than this year. The craft is therefore an important trainer: in 2019, the proportion of apprentices who learned a trade was 41 percent.

"The chances of getting a traineeship in the trade are good despite the Corona crisis," emphasizes Waxenberger. "Nevertheless, every form of support is required to attract young people to vocational training and to give companies additional incentives," adds Peteranderl. He criticizes: "The program initiated by the federal government to secure apprenticeships is not enough."

Because of the restrictions caused by the corona pandemic and the elimination of information events on career orientation, companies and those looking for apprenticeships have shown themselves to be "extremely flexible" this year, according to Waxenberger, and, for example, conducted interviews via online meetings.

Both are convinced that it will also be possible in 2020 to "offer an apprenticeship position to every young person who has the necessary qualifications and the necessary motivation". However, many contracts will probably only be concluded after the official start of the training year next Tuesday. “Then there are still good chances. The Chamber of Crafts, District Craftsmen, Guilds and the Employment Agency will pool their strengths in the follow-up placement, ”assure Waxenberger and Peteranderl.

Most of the apprenticeship contracts in the trade in the district of Erding were concluded this year with electronics, mechatronics and precision mechanics. ham
