57 years after Martin Luther King's legendary speech, thousands protested against racism and police violence at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington. The event was peaceful.

Relatives of the victims of police violence also gave impressive speeches.

Jacob Blake Senior, father of Jacob Blake

"There are two legal systems in the United States. A white system and a black system. The black system is not doing so well. But we will stand up."

Philonise Floyd, brother of George Floyd

"I wish George were here to see this. I march for him. I march for George. For Breonna (Taylor). For Ahmaud (Arbery). For Jacob (Blake). For Pamela Turner. For Michael Brown. For Treyvon (Martin). And for everyone else who lost their life to evil. "

Some of the participants had walked to the US capital. They had been on the road for up to three weeks.

Protester

"I'm scared. I have a young black son, I have young black family members. Sending your kids out is scary. You have to master this special way of dealing with cops. You have to make sure they're nice, that you," Yes, sir Say and say no sir, being careful not to move suddenly, hold your hands up and do whatever you can to make it easy for you to get home. "

Civil rights activist Al Sharpton and several civil rights organizations called for the rally.
