A source Mawakib for the meetings pointed out that the meetings of this round were part of the agenda entitled “Basic National Principles”, where the national delegation presented many national principles, most notably national identity and cultural diversity as two basic principles that can be built upon in the subsequent stages of the committee’s work, but reaching a consensus on them has been suspended. The source said that the national delegation affirmed during its interventions its keenness to continue working openly in the coming rounds to reach consensus on these two principles and other national principles, which are a common ground for the Constitutional Committee to carry out its duties.

The third round of the meetings of the small committee to discuss the constitution, which emanated from the expanded body, began last Monday with a morning session before the United Nations announced the suspension of the meetings on the same day after discovering the presence of Coronavirus infections among the participating delegations, to resume them last Thursday.
